If you’re a regular follower of my blog, then you’re hip to our impact. We care a lot about saving customers money, helping style the fashionless, and carving a niche in the callous, cruel world where fashion and sustainability may not only coexist but collab.
Luckily for us, we’re on the cusp of something great: an accessorizing and styling guide for newbie fashionstas. That’s right, we’re planning on publishing a guide to sustainable styling and accessorizing this coming year.

Until then, we have something we know you’ll love… The next installation in our clothing rental series.
Enjoy!:
1st up – Stitchfix
1. StitchFix
Stitchfix is another up-and-coming clothes-renting service with a wider range of sizes offered. Stylists will pick out a number of outfits for you every month and send you a box of your selected pieces. Stitchfix promotes Stitchfix Men, Stitchfix Plus, and Stitchfix Kids on their site saying, “Stitchfix is for everybody.” At a price of $20 per month for 3-5 items, it truly is a bargain.
My experience:
My first foray: I live a busy lifestyle so I am in the process of sending my first Stitchfix package back with all the clothes in it. I liked a dark blue Vince Camuto shirt, and a grey cardigan . A coral pink skirt was cute but didn’t fit, and a very loose-fitting black top and grey dress were apallingly similar but not my cup of tea. You only get 3 days to try on your outfits and then must return. With more time I might have tried on the clothes and taken pictures.
My second month: Instead of immediately cancelling the service, I figured I’d utilize all the visual style surveys that appear on the website on a near-daily basis until my next Fix. I also provided comments that would shape how my style really was and how it evolved from the first box of items.

As a result, I really liked my 2nd StitchFix box and decided to take photos in all the outfits as shown below:
StitchFix Outfits
My personal opinion: It’s hard to be for “everybody” when your plus sizes only go up to 24W or 3x. But I fit within that sizing so it’s not like it put a damper on my experience. What DID make my experience less great was the 3 day timer on sending back the clothes. ThredUp at least has a 7 day period, as does Dia & Co.
This time I decided to put that I like dresses and blazers so that they would send those pieces instead of the rest. I mean honestly, if I’m stepping out of my “shell” to try new clothes, I want fabulous dresses and sturdy work-appropriate jackets…especially blazers.
Final Thought: StitchFix is one of of my newest most intriguing finds and I think I will try them out again. I especially loved the white floral dress and the navy blue dress, however I looked great in just about everything!
Bonuses: They provide a lot of opportunities to check “Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down” for style choices and to write comments in a comment box for your stylist. For the next 45 hours, I can offer you a $50 credit (that’s enough for TWO MONTHS FREE) and in return I, too will get a $50 credit. Here’s the link for that offer: Stitchfix $50 credit.
Here is my everyday Stitchfix Referral link for interested participants who don’t make the 45 hour window.
*UPDATE: Check back later for photos and information on How to Pause or Cancel your Stitchfix Subscription.
Stitchfix does allow extensions up to 14 days for people who forget/can’t give back the clothes at the close of the 3-day window. But after that it costs $3 per item per day to keep it.
2nd – Thred Up (Part Deux!)
This is the sequel to our fabulous story on Thred Up: the thrift fashion store and clothing rental service that has caught the eye of every cosmopopular frugalista.
This season is wedding season, and seemingly to spite my decision to prepare for this season by buying all new dresses, COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on our wedding guest opportunities.
So my search for a wedding guest dress began here as I ordered a 10 item goody box with dresses and some shoes I selected. Below are some of the looks:
*UPDATE: My choice for the wedding guest dress was this green printed number below. I have since returned it because the wedding guest list was decreased down to 10 guests – family only- because of the current pandemic.
3rd – FTFCloset – A Fashion 2 Figure Clothes-Renting Service
Fashion to Figure is a plus size gal’s dream closet vacation away from unfussy society and their new service, F2F Closet is no joke. By putting some of their classic Fashion to Figure #glooks back into circulation as well as new ones not yet tested or available on the main store website, F2F Closet is introducing women to an experience they do not want to miss.
My experience: Similar to Gwynnie Bee in their delivery of constant products but for the less expensive up-front cost of $52.00 per month, F2F Closet fits the bill. The web infrastructure also dings the bell of approval because their website provides the consumer with the opportunity to choose which products they want to see in their box. In that way it mirror a real shopping experience – you can see what you’re bound to get. You also get to acknowledge preference by marking some of the picked out items for your Wish List with the word “Priority.”
The delivery arrived on time in a white and black F2FCloset branded box/package with three items in it. And let’s just say I was a bit dismayed. Okay MORE than a bit. Why?
Because I did not get my most-desired Priority Item! I will however refer you to items I DID receive:
Check out this beautiful Black and Hot Pink tie-dye asymmetrical wrap skirt from FTFCloset. A beloved unreturned rental-turned-purchase. This skirt speaks volumes. Going on a hot date, or to an art exhibit? This is the skirt for it. My plan is to wear this skirt to an art exhibit for Galentine’s Day.
Another fashion journalist by the name of Sarah wrote about her hot pink and black tie-dye hoodie on PopSugar’s website that she wore to a recent fashion week event.
So in case you haven’t noticed, let it be known that tie-dye and hot pink are IN this Winter.
Returned purchases in sassy silver.
And the above pants from F2FCloset arrived neatly and fabulously but we’re ultimately returned. The shods from Thredup made sense as a New Years ensemble but sense we were styling for Vday and early Spring, we had to let it go.
That’s it for now! Next time we’ll be promoting Part TOI of Why You Should Try Clothes Renting. Here’s a Sneak Peak…
Thank you for reading,
