Hear ye, hear ye! Listen all and listen well! We have an Impact Fashion Exclusive! The lovely Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has revealed parts of an upcoming sustainable swim line made in partnership with prominent athletic clothing and accessory brand, Adidas.
Here at Impact Fashion USA, we were excited to indulge in Beyonce’s first Ivy Park x Adidas collection. But after that first purchase in which no sustainable materials were described in any of the press releases, we became disgruntled.
We know Yoncé to be a competitive performance artist, one of the greatest and highest-earning in fact. We also know her to have flawless vocalist skills that keep her fans, young and old alike coming back for more. What’s more, her dancing capabilities are none to be matched by modern day songstresses.
With all that said, Beyoncé is fierce, fearless, and highly competitive, so why was her perfectionist-like attitude totally adequate, but her past Ivy Park lines not living up to the standards of the sustainable fashion community?
Let’s think about this. For a fashion designer to have access to all the materials, monies, and marketing experts they could possibly want would be a dream. Sustainable materials are included in that. And for Beyonce, this VIP access couldn’t be closer than the truth. So why for her high price range wouldn’t ALL her products be sustainably manufactured?
We’re not entirely sure. But as a huge Beyoncé fan, knowledgeable sustainability and eco-ethical fashion expert, I suspect the cost of sustainable materials may be competing with the cost of responsibly-sourced labor.
Either way, Beyoncé already supports BIPOC entrepreneurs by promoting those hand-picked for the Black Parade Route section of her website. So far Impact Luxury has not been picked to be on her website. But there’s nothing wrong with a little competition.
That’s why, our sister soon-to-be non-profit organization, and current pilot project, Ethical District, will be posting our own “Green Book” of sorts, promoting the green BIPOC-owned businesses we most consistently connect with and feel most supremely aligned to.
Anyway, without further ado, here are the pre-released photos of products for the upcoming sustainable swim line, Ivy Park x Adidas line 3.5 edition, made with 85% recycled materials, set to launch on the site and in stores July 23rd. Enjoy!:
Now that we know big stars like Yoncé can rise to the occasion, we are definitely going to hold them to the standards of a sustainable fashion designer. hopefully we can snag a water bottle if not also a swimsuit to match the orange soles of our maroon/deep red Ivy Park x Adidas (Drop 1.0) sneakers.
That’s all for this fashion editor.
This has been an Impact Fashion Exclusive.
Ciao,
Lia T.
